FedEx Labels Configuration
Enable FedEx services, map packaging, and ensure compliant label generation.
Connect printers, configure label formats, and troubleshoot shipping stations.
LollipopWMS supports three printer types: **Direct thermal**: Prints by heating specially coated label stock. No ribbon required. Best for shipping labels and short-term barcodes. Fades over time with heat/light exposure. **Thermal transfer**: Uses ribbon to transfer ink onto labels. More durable, suitable for product labels that need to last. **Laser/inkjet**: Standard desktop printers. Use for documents, packing slips, and occasional labels. For high-volume warehouse printing, thermal printers (Zebra, Honeywell, SATO) are recommended.
Go to Settings > Hardware > Printers > Add Printer. Enter printer name and select connection type: **Browser printing**: Prints via Chrome/Edge using local drivers. Requires browser extension. **Direct IP**: Sends ZPL/EPL directly to network printer IP:port. Fastest option. **Cloud printing**: Routes through print server for remote locations. Select printer type (ZPL, EPL, PDF) matching your hardware. Set default label size. Click 'Test Print' to verify connection. Save and assign to workstations.
Label templates define layout and content. Access from Settings > Labels > Templates. **Built-in templates**: Shipping (4x6), Product barcode (2x1), Location tag (2x1), Case label (4x4). **Customization**: Use the visual editor to drag/drop fields, adjust sizing, and add logos. **Advanced**: Upload custom ZPL for full control. Available data fields: SKU, barcode, description, quantity, location, PO number, order number, tracking number. Preview templates with sample data before saving. Version templates—don't edit production templates directly.
Assign printers to workstations for automatic print routing. Go to Settings > Workstations > [Station Name] > Printers. Assign default printers by label type: Shipping labels → 4x6 thermal printer, Product labels → 2x1 thermal printer, Documents → laser printer. Users at the workstation automatically use assigned printers. Override assignments for specific print jobs if needed. Create printer groups for failover—if primary printer is offline, jobs route to backup.
**Print job stuck in queue**: Check printer is online and has media. Clear browser print queue if using browser printing. Restart print spooler service on Windows. **Wrong label size**: Verify template matches media loaded in printer. Recalibrate printer for new media. **Blank labels printing**: Clean printhead. Check media type setting (direct thermal vs thermal transfer). Verify darkness/density setting. **Labels printing offset**: Run printer calibration. Check label alignment in template. **Browser printing not working**: Ensure browser extension is installed and enabled. Check that LollipopWMS site is allowed in extension settings. Try a different browser.
Yes, if the printer is configured as warehouse-wide rather than station-specific. Users can select from available printers in the print dialog.
Mobile printing requires network printers with direct IP connection. The mobile app sends print jobs directly to the printer IP. Bluetooth printing is supported on compatible devices.
Direct IP to network thermal printers. This bypasses browser and OS print queues. Labels print in under 1 second. Requires printer with Ethernet and static IP.
