Hardware setup
Zebra Printers with ZPL
Connect desktop and industrial Zebra printers to LollipopWMS with reliable ZPL templates and quick calibration.
Supported models
Certified profiles cover GK420d, ZD421, and ZD621 models with direct thermal stock. Additional ZD series printers work using the same ZPL templates.
Review the GK420d printing guide for media specs and driver tips.
USB/Network setup
- USB: Install the Zebra driver, set media type to direct thermal, and confirm test prints from Windows or macOS.
- Network: Assign a static IP, add the printer in LollipopWMS with port 9100, and test with a sample batch label.
- Keep spare cables and media near each bench to reduce downtime.

Calibration & issues
- Run auto-calibration after every media change to prevent skipped labels.
- Lower darkness when printheads show residue; clean with the Zebra-approved swab.
- Keep a backup PDF workflow ready in case network printers drop mid-shift.
Connect the setup with the pack & ship workflow for consistent bench output.
FAQs
Can we use 2x1 inventory labels?
Yes. Update the ZPL width and layout to match media dimensions, then save as a separate template.
How do we reset a printer to defaults?
Power off, hold the feed button, power on, and release after four flashes to restore factory settings.
What if labels print too light?
Increase darkness in increments of two and verify the media matches the driver profile.
Keep Zebra printers dialed in
Standard ZPL templates and calibration routines keep every label legible and on time.
